Yesterday was the first day of the third week of Advent. I have so many things on my heart as I meditate on God's Word and press in to experience His Birth in a fresh new way this Christmas
Yesterday we visited our middle son's church to hear our 4 year old "G-Girl" sing in the children's choir. Turned out that she chose to be "silent" for "Silent Night" but we were blessed anyway. The sermon was on...suprise!!!....Advent and the focus was on HUMILITY. Wow! Does that Spiritual Fruit EVER not need to be reconsidered.
We were reminded that the King of Kings came to a small unimpressive town, as a tiny unassuming baby. His example of humility preceded His sovereign embrace of mankind.
I was very touched and stirred by the message and pondered it in my heart all day yesterday and into today. During my quiet time this morning I read Mary's "Magnificat" found in Luke 1:46-55
Mary's Song
46And Mary said:
"My soul glorifies the Lord
47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers."

I found it so interesting to read Mary's references to humility.
There is a message in there.
I think I will stay with it for a while.
Today also marks the beginning of Boo Mama's Christmas Tour of Homes.
It is just too much fun to resist!
My decorating is FINALLY finished so I decided to go ahead and enter even though I think I might be number 50 thousand!
I hope that you enjoy your visit to my HUMBLE home.

WOW Pat, your Christmas decorating is gorgeous, but even more beautiful are the truths you've shared from His Word.
Just last night I shared on my blog how God brought my attention to some pride in my life.
"Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." Psalm 115:1
Love & prayers,

Wow Pat- your home is lovely. And that smilebox thing was so cool!
Your yard is beyond stunning.
Are you a gardner? Sigh... I would love to have a green thumb. But, alas, I have a brain that forgets to water EVERYTHING.
Anytime you get in the mood to come to my home and plant a few things green and teach me how to care for them- you know you are welcome.
Smiles!
Lysa,
You are sweet but truly I am a gardener "want-to-be" My garden is DEAD more than it is ALIVE!
I am always giving it CPR!
love you,
pat
